Contra Costa County, California, is one of the most distinctive regions of California. Located on the eastern portion of the San Francisco Bay, Contra Costa County is home to approximately 1 million residents. Contra Costa County derives its name from its location on the San Francisco Bay.
 
Contra Costa County is home to 19 cities. Some of the most popular cities include Concord, Antioch, Richmond, and Walnut Creek. Notable attractions in Contra Costa County include Vasco Caves Regional Preserve, the Museum of the San Ramon Valley, and Mount Diablo State Park, where Mount Diablo sits 3,849 feet above sea level.

Things to Do

The Lafayette Art & Wine Festival offers residents of Contra Costa County many opportunities to enjoy wine and view amazing art. Hundreds of vendors exhibit and sell their goods at the festival. Live music, kid zones, and wine booths are also available during this two-day event.
 
Also, the San Ramon Art & Wind Festival takes place over the course of two days at the end of May. Kite workshops, food courts, and international touring acts are featured at the San Ramon Art & Wind Festival.
 
Concord Oktoberfest is an annual event featuring some of the best elements of German culture. Great food, such as bavarian sausages and fresh pretzels, are served alongside some of the greatest German beers.
 
Contra Loma Regional Park is one of the best places to spend the day jogging, hiking, or biking. Park visitors enjoy kayaking, sailing, and boating in the park.
